Laziness, YouTube, and health

Laziness, YouTube, and health

Now that we all have our little AI setup hunting for us, time feels a lot longer than it used to.

So I went looking for other things to fill my days with, so I don't end up doing nothing or wasting my time. That's what we're talking about today.

Laziness

Since we need to be present way less to hunt, things are really different. Where before you had to spend 15 hours in front of the PC looking for vulns, racking your brain, pushing as far as possible, today it's Codex doing all of that.

It's impressive and sad at the same time, because the genuinely interesting and stimulating part of the job is gone. So you have to find other things to stimulate you intellectually.

You could tell me: sure, but you don't have to use AI, you could do it by hand like before. That's totally true, but when bug bounty is your main source of income, you still have to stay competitive and follow the trend. If I spend 15 hours doing it manually while someone else finds the vuln in 30 minutes with Codex, I've lost time and money.

And it makes us lazier and lazier. Whether it's writing the reports or even testing the PoCs. We want the simplest PoCs possible. A few curl commands, two or three buttons to click, and that's it, and the AI does all the setup to make things simpler for us and simpler for the triagers too.

But it's not a big deal, it's just the meta changing and you have to adapt so you don't get left behind.

Still, what matters, I think, is to keep finding meaning in what we do. Since we're less stimulated intellectually, you have to look for that stimulation elsewhere. For some people it'll be video games, reading, or whatever else, it's very personal.

Our days are much emptier now that we've been able to delegate part of the hard stuff to agents. On my side, I decided to really focus that freed-up time on myself, on developing myself. Mentally and physically.

Starting with sport, which takes up a big place in my life now between running and calisthenics. But also health in general, which I'll get to a bit lower down.

On the mental side, instead of scrolling, I'm learning to get better at chess. And I like it, it's super engaging and interesting. But there's something else that's been on my mind for quite a few years now, which is getting back into video.

YouTube

I'm a huge YouTube fan. I think it's my favorite distraction tool. In the evening I'm not going to watch a Netflix series, I'll catch up on videos instead. I like all of it, vlogs, entertaining content, interesting videos where you actually learn something. There's always a good time to be had on there.

A few years ago I made vlogs when I traveled. I didn't make many but I'd done a few. And I always wanted to get back to it, but I always thought my life in Paris wasn't that interesting for vlogs. When actually it is, and I always have something to tell or to learn. Pretty much like I do through this newsletter.

Something that made me think about it too is that I did a shoot for France 2, a French channel, for a prime-time show. And even if I'm only in it for 3 minutes, it was really interesting and it brings good opportunities afterward.

And last week I did a shoot for a big French YouTuber that will come out in a few weeks, but I loved the experience. So I told myself, why not get back into it.

So I bought a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and I started filming my daily life, what I do, and so on. It won't interest everyone, but if you're up for it I'll drop the link to the first episode next week when it's out. It'll be in French but I'll make sure there are good English subtitles so everyone can follow.

All of this is going to keep me nicely busy and it'll probably bring me good opportunities in the long run, just like this blog regularly does.

Health

Ever since I started running, I've been obsessed with data, health, how to improve your body, and all of that.

And something I'd often heard about but never done is a full blood panel, to test all my biomarkers and get a complete picture of my body. It's expensive but I find it super interesting to understand yourself better, to know if you have deficiencies somewhere, and where to put your focus.

It's also preventive, to avoid big illnesses down the line, so it helps either way.

I went through Lucis if you want to take a look. And I'll give you a report here, and probably in video too.
