The weeks all look alike right now, but I'm making good progress on every project, so that feels good.
Next week I'm off on vacation. Yeah, I'm starting late compared to usual, but I didn't really feel the need before.
Now it's going to feel good to hit the beach with friends, while Codex finds bugs for me obviously.
Best Model
There are starting to be a lot of models, and it's hard not to get lost. Right now I'm focused on OpenAI's models, mostly GPT 5.6 Sol.
We found out Astra is about to drop, so I can't wait to test it. Especially right now with all of Tibo's resets, it's a real treat for us to use.
I've completely dropped Claude. I still have a small subscription for dev, but I think I'll cancel it soon.
I'm more and more interested in a few open source models like GLM 5.3 or Deepseek v4 flash, which could be great for sub-agents. I should test them a bit through the API, because buying hardware, I'm still on the fence.
On one hand it's tempting, being able to run everything at home and not depend on anyone. But on the other hand, for now, even if we have what it takes to run it, it's pretty expensive up front and the tokens per second are really low, so it'd be usable for sub-agents but not full-on. So something to think about, and to keep checking the benchmarks.
If you've got an AI hardware setup, I'm curious what you manage to run on it and whether it's actually efficient.
Travel Setup
You know me, I love changing a bunch of stuff and having new setups. But this time it's more like recycling.
My main machine is a Macbook Pro M4 14-inch with 32GB of RAM. Before that I had a Macbook Air M1 8GB, which wasn't powerful enough anymore for bug bounty.
But things changed and the whole bug bounty side now runs on a server at home, so I don't need as much spec on my laptop. And since I'm going traveling, I wanted something light again, so I pulled my old Macbook out of the closet.
I don't know if you've seen the current hype around Omarchy, but it really tempted me, so I installed Omarchy on the M1 Macbook. It's crazy how simple it was with Asahi and all that: in 15 minutes I had a new partition on the Mac with Omarchy installed and configured.

What's nice with Omarchy is that it's as simple and functional as MacOS, so you're not really lost.
And it has everything you could need. Something cool they added is the direct connection to an LLM to manage the OS. They also have a set of Codex/Claude skills that make it super easy to add new software, build one, or change the OS settings.
Before, just to change the window manager padding, you had to find the software, its config file, read the docs and edit the file. Now you tell Codex you want rounded borders and 12px of padding, and it's done on its own. What a time.
All that to say, in less than an hour I had a complete setup comparable to my Mac and usable day to day.
But what's all this going to be useful for?
Simply for when I move around, traveling or working from a cafe: it gives me a light, portable laptop. I can manage my agents, which are working from home no matter what.
I can check and verify bugs with a local Caido and my browser. I can write my newsletter and do everything I need in a nomad setup.
Vacation
All of this made me want to travel even more, and I haven't moved around much this year again, but that won't last.
Right now I'm off to Palma de Mallorca, then Portugal in October. And I think I'll squeeze in another trip before the end of the year. I just don't know where yet. I'm torn between going back to my classics or trying something new. Maybe Singapore and Malaysia, with a stop in Japan to enjoy the good food for a few days.
Funny how it all lines up: my own models running at home, bug bounty living on my server, a laptop light enough to throw in a bag. Same direction every time, being able to work from anywhere without depending on anyone.
