Building the perfect setup and going back to grind

Table of contents

This past week wasn't very productive and I didn't work that much. But it was also interesting in terms of finding bugs.

I also moved out to Paris and rented the flat of a friend at the time so I could find mine later. But I decided to build a new setup, not a nomad one to have more power and work better on some programs.

Going back to old programs

There is a program that we found many many bugs a few months ago with a friend. And I decided to come back and hunt for it.

We thought that we'd found everything interesting on it, but by looking deeper into the code and the requests, I was able to find around 10 new bugs on it.

And with that, I was able to buy my full new setup.

Moving out and building a new setup

It's been a while since I wasn't at the same place for a long time, with a good routine and stuff like that, so I'm very happy to have found my place to grind more and to get a better routine.

Looking at my setup, I only had a MacBook Air M1 from 2020 with only 8 GB of RAM. It was enough for most of my tasks, including hunting. But for some tasks like setting up a new lab for some programs, it was impossible to do it mainly due to the lack of RAM.

So I bought a brand new MacBook Pro with the latest chipset M4 and with 32 GB of RAM this time. It will probably be more than enough for all I do.

And as my friend didn't have a proper desk and stuff to work, I also bought a lot of other stuff.

I wanted to build my dream setup as you can see on many YouTube videos, and here is mine :

My new setup

For the references :

  • The chair is a Herman Miller Aeron
  • The Desk is from Flexispot
  • The keyboard is a nuphy air 75v2
  • The light is from Xiami
  • And the screen is a LG 35" UltraWide

I am very proud to have all of these items and it fits perfectly and it's very convenient to work with that.

What's next

For the next week, I will focus more on HackerOne programs I left due to my old Mac, and the goal for the next year will be to be enrolled in the h1 LHE so I need to stick with some big public programs on them.

I'm also very proud of my figures for this year as I achieved building the same salary as my friends who are engineers, so it was the right decision for me to directly go full time and not do something else.

I will talk more about all my figures at the end of the year, so wait a little bit more.
