Back in South Korea, the race results and development stuff

Table of contents

I'm finally back in South Korea. I first went to Gyeongju, the historical city, to run my half marathon before going to Busan where I currently am.

I will discuss more about my race and what I've done this past week. I'm also back developing stuff.

Back in South Korea

As I know that some people love having pictures of my trip, here are some from Busan.

It's now the third time that I come to Korea, I'm now getting used to it, and it's more like going to see my aunt than discovering something new,

But I still love going here, it's pleasant, I have my habits there, my places, and I know how everything works.

There are still some issues related to this country like the fact that they want to use their own system which can be great sometimes, but also hard. For instance, no one uses Google Maps here and it doesn't work that well. They use Kakao Map or Naver which are not very well made, laggy, and not as easy as our alternatives.

That's the same as looking at paying stuff. As the leader here is Samsung, Apple Pay is not usable everywhere. Looking at all of these, Japan is quite better on this point.

In the past few weeks, I discovered a taste for good coffee. And now, I try to avoid going to Starbucks and stuff like that. I also don't like high-sugar stuff anymore, and here it's quite hard as everything is sweet. But I found some good places near my hotel to find good coffee.

My Half Marathon

Just to put the context, it's my second half marathon, and I already run the Paris Marathon before, and it's been a year that I'm running.

I came to Korea to run this race, and I wanted to beat my personal best which was 1h53.

I had injuries these past months and now it's been like 3 months that I recovered and my training was really good, and I was ready for this race. And according to my plan, I should be able to run it in 1h45.

But a few days before, I tried to convince myself that I could be better than that and try running it in 1h40 which is around 4m45 per kilometer.

So at the race day, I went with the ambition to run at this pace. It was raining a lot, the weather wasn't very good, and I started faster than I should have.

It's always hard at the beginning of a race to find the right pace as there are so many people and you need to find your path through them.

And finally, trying this pace was too much for me, and I ran in the red during the first few kilometers and It was too late.

I failed at my goal and the rest of the race was more like me trying to not suffer. My mental wasn't very good that day and I finally finished in less than 2h.

Maybe I needed to stick with my initial goal but in the end, I'm still happy because I tried it and I saw that it was too much for me with my condition. I'm sure that If I sticked with the 1:45, I should have been able to achieve it, but I wanted to try more. And it's ok.

I will now continue to train more, and go back later to another race, that's the game!

Developing stuff

As I told you previously, I'm back developing stuff. And I'm now working on a project that I started when I was like 13, it's like a big project for me, and I started it again and again to improve it.

I will talk about it later, but for now, it's a project that will help me automate a lot of tasks in my life. I'm starting to use it to help me in the bug bounty field, to make my recon, and to find the juicy part of applications, where to dig deep.

It's like a beta right now, but it's promising.

I also need to find time to work more on other projects like hackyx and reworker.

During the next weeks, I will be here in Korea with some friends so I will not work that much, but that's alright to take a vacation sometime too.

See you next week.
